Pilot Episode: VERMILION

Expressing your love and expressing your passion are not the same thing.
For one die hard fan...
Death is not enough.

VERMILION is the pilot episode of Space Officer Triggs, a new sci-fi/crime webcomic series which explores why people - no matter who they are or where they're from - will do what they must to achieve their inner most, and often, devious desires.

The episode will launch right here, next week, 26th October 2011.

Rating: 16+ - contains alcohol and drug use, moderate language and graphic violence

Triggs Model Sheet WIP

We began learning about character model sheets in college today, and now that I'm getting to grips with construction shapes and head measurements, I thought it would be vital now to start model sheets for Triggs and the crew. I started this on my break. I've determined that he's about 4 and 3/4 heads high - the 3/4 allowing for his ears. I would imagine this to be approx. the same for Leonie too.

So, this Wednesday will  see the revealing of the cover to VERMILION. It'll show a slight story twist - but will still leave you wondering...

9 days left.

VERMILION release date

VERMILION, the pilot episode of Space Officer Triggs, will be released online on the 26th October.

Believe me, if there are two things I am looking forward to the most this year - it is the release of this comic and the film, Ra.One. So, why not make this day even more special and celebrate the two releases together?

That said, a week before the comic is out, on the 19th October, the cover to the comic will be unveiled.

Updates are to be weekly for the first 5 weeks. After that, I cannot promise how frequently they will be, but they should not be too long apart, with the help of God.

This comic will be experimental through the course of it. This is, after all, a pilot. Some pages may look different depending on what hand I'll need to draw with, etc.

That said - I am extremely looking forward to sharing this first, full length comic of Space Officer Triggs, and I hope you will all enjoy it.

SOT [from the Portuguese Sketchbook]

I'm back from my holiday in the Algarve, Portugal. First time there, and 'twas absolutely beautiful. Never experienced such hot weather like it before. But the sights were sweet, awesome architecture, and it was just great to be in a different country again.

I have been productive though. Not as productive as I hoped I would be, but sketches came nevertheless. About 97% I did were all Triggs related anyway, which I will now share with you.

OH YES

OH YES AGAIN

Inspired by my surroundings at the hotel I stayed at.
The Algarve have the best chimneys.

Young Caoimhe with a little Yorkie...

and present Caoimhe with her bigger, stronger, robo-pup!

Well, this was inevitable.
Triggs as G.One from the upcoming Bollywood sci-fi flick, Ra.One
I just can't contain my excitement for it!

a formidable team

:'D

WIPpin'... WIPpin'...

Working on this nearly broke my heart today.
Now I do save my work on a regular basis...
but I just so happened not to today and I lost a lot of colouring work when the program crashed on me.

well, argh

Anyway, this is a new big illustration... big in the sense that it's 600dpi and 6963x4700 px.

aw yeah

might a poster for an upcoming Zenpop magazine?
might be a print to sell for when I do next attend another convention?
It'll be something anyway.

Also, about VERMILION...
there are still only five pages completed
that preview for Nom-Con... I don't think went ahead as I think the copies of the new mag weren't back in time

BUT

I am off to Portugal in less than 2 weeks time.
I hope that my arm will heal with the nice hot weather and swimming (and my neck as well - that started to act up because of it).
And so I hope to get the line art to a good few more pages done while I'm there.
I hope. It's hard to promise when the pain has been bad and staying there for a few days.
But I'll try my best. C:

Space Officer... Trixie?

This isn't the first time I attempted a gender bend of Triggs... but a definite 'yes' where Caoimhe's concerned.

Largely inspired by the gender-swaps of Adventure Time, I wanted to give it a proper try myself.

They turned out pretty alright I guess... Caoimhe was gonna be awkward to swap anyway, but Triggs... damn, he might as well be a female... =u=;

BUT NAMES
YES

Prolly surprising for most, Caoimhe's name is not difficult to get a male version of - 'cos in reality it would be Kevin. 'Caoimhe' is an Irish female take on the name Kevin. So yeah, it works.

Triggs was a different matter though. 'Triggs' - short for Trigger - has no female alternative, so a name that rhymed was in order...

Trixie. It's close enough. :L
